Dubai Marina Yacht Club - Dubai-bye winter blues – Yellow Admiral gets onboard with Sailing Networks - Sailing Networks, the world’s leading social networking website for boaters, is continuing the development of its service portfolio through a partnership deal with a leading marine recruitment specialist, Yellow Admiral

Hot on the heels of its recent affiliation with boat-friendly wireless broadband provider Oceanwave, Sailing Networks has just revealed details of another business partnership, this time with one of the UK’s leading marine recruitment specialists.

Essex-based Yellow Admiral has over 35 years of experience in specialist recruitment and has been at the forefront of the current boom in expat employment in the emerging marine sectors of Dubai Marina Rentals and the United Arab Emirates.

“This is a major addition to our partnership portfolio,” explains Piers Covill of Sailing Networks. “We have created a one-stop-shop for employment in the marine sector. On one side, Yellow Admiral has great boating contacts and gets the pick of the jobs being offered around the world; on the other, Sailing Networks has a huge network of potential applicants who all have a pre-qualified interest in the same sector.”

This combination of factors helps the employment process from both ends. Marine companies can find the right people for their vacancies with a significant reduction in filtering, and jobseekers can benefit from the experience and focus of a specialist agency.

“In difficult economic times there are always pockets of activity that buck the trend,” explains Denise Robinson, Recruitment Director at Yellow Admiral. “We have recently been concentrating our marketing efforts in the Middle East which is proving to be very successful. We are now supplying staff from the UK to work for a number of marine firms in the region.”

Dubai Marina Towers - So, if you want to swap the chill winds of a UK economic winter for the bright sunshine of the world’s fastest growing marine sector, then check-out the job vacancies in Dubai at sailingnetworks.com. You can login and post your own CV or just browse the vacancies that are currently available.

Living and working in the Gulf
We hear a lot about all the amazing construction in Dubai, and occasionally the ex-pat lifestyle hits the headlines (sometimes for the wrong reasons), but what’s it really like living and working in Dubai?

Dubai Marina Mall - John Bush, a yacht broker who has recently started work with ART Marine, a major regional distributor of luxury yachts, said “As a Brit it has been very easy to fit into the lifestyle of Dubai, everything is in English, the cinemas, the shops, the road signs. The cost of renting an apartment can be very expensive so it’s worth shopping around”.

Dubai Marina Appartments - Simon Jones who is also working in yacht sales in Dubai confirmed this. Dubai Marina Properties - “The cost of living and accommodation is quite high but the tax benefits counter that quite nicely, every day off is like a mini holiday”. Simon also commented that doing business in the Middle East is different from the UK. “The pace of life is somewhat different. The lack of voicemail is interesting and people rarely if ever get back to you – chasing is the name of the game here and the easiest way to earn the money”.
